Greetings Legacy Community,
I want to take this time to thank each of you for choosing to be a part of Legacy School of Sport Sciences. I know these last couple of weeks have been an adjustment for all of us, and again, I want to thank you for being patient with us during this time.
Since school has started, we have been monitoring closely our student engagement levels in Zoom, Google Classroom, and Edgenuity. We have received helpful feedback from parents, students, and teachers on how to create a better distance learning experience for all. One of the guiding principles of Legacy is for us to prepare our students for the next level in life. We want them to practice today what will be expected of them as they move into adulthood. I would like to provide some best practices that will help minimize distractions and support a productive work environment for both our students and teachers.
Make sure you are on time to your scheduled Zoom meetings. (Be Punctual)
During your Zoom meetings, turn your camera on and participate in the meeting. (Be Engaged)
Dress appropriately for your Zoom meeting. (Dress professionally)
Create a workspace that will allow you to listen, take notes, and complete your assignments. (Be prepared)
Log in to your Google Classrooms, Zoom, and Edgenuity daily. (Be Consistent)
Communicate with your teacher if you are having difficulties. (Communicate effectively)
Check your Legacy email daily. (Communicate effectively)
We chose the asynchronous attendance model so we could provide more flexibility to our families. This model requires a higher level of commitment from our students. The expectations above are the same expectations we have of our students when they are on campus. We know this is an adjustment for many of our students; we want them to be in the best position to be successful.
Our teachers and staff will be asking students to follow these best practices to maximize our learning opportunities while in distance learning. I ask that you review these with your students and help reinforce these best practices.
