On October 22, 2025, the Legacy National basketball team headed to the court for their first official preseason game. One of those players was junior Brodrick Wyatt II, also known as “Peanut,” with whom I had an intriguing Q+A.

I asked Wyatt how he got his nickname. Giggling, he stated that he has a big head when it’s not covered. “The name ‘Peanut’ just stuck with me,” he joked. His love for basketball came from his father, who helped him get to where he is today.

I asked Brodrick, “How did the game yesterday prepare you for the upcoming season?” He added, “The first preseason game helps us get back into rhythm and build chemistry as a team. It gives us a chance to see what’s working, what needs improvement, and how we can adjust before the regular season starts.”

He also noticed the highs and lows of both teams, stating, “Some highs we’re seeing are strong communication and energy on the court, as well as players stepping up and making key plays. A few lows came from missed opportunities, turnovers, and small mistakes that we can fix through practice.”

When asked about the upcoming season, he said that he believes it will be competitive and exciting. He shared, “We’ve got a lot of talent, and if we stay focused and continue improving, we can have a strong year.”

Wyatt mentioned how relationships with the team are important when playing on the court. “When there’s trust, communication, and respect between us, everything on the court runs smoother. We can read each other better and make quicker decisions,” Brodrick stated.

Peanut shared that he’s looking forward to performing at his best this season and showing off his new skills, hoping to stay consistent and help his team succeed.

Come support our National basketball team in their upcoming game, where the team will get to show off their new skills.
