Located a couple of hours west of Legacy, varsity football players, coaches, and students from sports medicine, media, and management headed to Franklin High School to face the Franklin Lions.

When they arrived, the football team went straight to the locker room to unload their luggage, then walked onto the field. As they were heading out of the locker room, a friend of one of the coaches stopped them. He gave a heartwarming, motivating speech, reminding them that God was with them. He said he was grateful to speak to the team and that they had a passion the Franklin Lions lacked. He got the players hyped and encouraged them to shout “BOOYAH” when they succeeded.

Determined, the team headed to the field to warm up with dynamic stretches, and the quarterbacks practiced their throws. Moments later, the game began.

The opposing team kicked off, but the ball went only five yards, a penalty the referees didn’t call. Immediately, rumors began circulating that the other team was cheating, and

issues like this continued. By halftime, the Lions were in the lead. Legacy Titans had 30 minutes to redeem ourselves and take a breather.

There were plenty of highlights throughout the entirety of the game. There were amazing catches and a two-point conversion by Beezy. #3 made an 80-yard touchdown, and both Michael Brown and Julian Shepherd scored as well. Outstanding tackles came from #15, #22, and #44. These were just a few of many strong plays.

Still, our team had 24 penalties in the first half. There were a few fumbles, incomplete passes, and a couple of injuries, though all injured players were able to return to the game. Coach A. Bishop shared that his passion for football is something he loves giving back to others. He said he’s grateful to contribute to the team through his love for the sport.

Despite their perseverance, it still wasn’t enough to secure the win. The final score was 49–48—a close game. While ideas of cheating were on everyone’s mind, it didn’t excuse the fact that offense and defense both had plays they could have executed better.

The Titans worked hard, and we wish them the best of luck in the next game!
