2nd Game of the Season

Reported by Taylor Elmore on Sept 23, 2025

As the crowd packs into the Houston Christian University bleachers, our temporary home stadium, the Legacy Titans varsity football team prepares for the game.

Freshman Brody Ball stated, “To prepare for the game, we listen to music on the bus quietly and study our game plan. We also study the other team’s plays to know what we’ll run against. Then, on the field, we practice drills, walk 100 yards, and our coaches motivate us, hyping the team up for the game.”

Throughout the game, there were many uplifting experiences for the team. There were some bright highlights from the game. Here are just a few of the plays made. Some touchdowns were made by Julian Sheperd, Timothy Timmerman, Michael Brown, and Keisean Henderson. Cade Butler scored 4 field goals. However, that wasn't enough to win the game, on record at least. Brayden McNeal scored a touchdown, but a ref didn’t count it.

Mylen Colley explained, “After the loss, I definitely felt disappointed in myself and the team because we put in so much effort. We felt confident at first, but the loss was harsh because it was our senior night, a big game. The play before the last, they called a crack back block on the right tackle. Then the very next play... Keisean Henderson ran out of the pocket, and they called him short of the goal line down at the 1-yard line.”

It was said that the Port Arthur football team admitted to cheating and formerly apologized for their actions. Overall, the game was a defeat and the team felt incomplete without the win. Sometimes, it’s a gain, and sometimes it’s a lesson to be learned.
