For a varsity baseball player, it gets pretty busy both during the week and on the weekends. Balancing school work and playing can be difficult at times, so what does playing baseball look like for a player?

On Mondays, baseball players head to the field for fielding practice, which consists of pop-ups, ground balls, and realistic end-game situations.

On Tuesdays and Thursdays, the team is in the weight room with Coach J. Will, who specializes in helping athletes meet their athletic goals. When in the weight room, they often work on mobility, agility, and other workouts to target muscles a baseball player may use during a game.

On Wednesdays, Coach Angel helps players practice their batting skills. Each player does two rounds of batting practice one-on-one with Coach. This allows him to individually help them improve and adjust skills.

On the weekends, preparing for a game doesn’t stop. A freshman on the varsity team, Remington Elmore mentions, “I practice hitting off a tee to practice my eye and hand coordination on the weekends. I also throw into a pitch-back to work on my fielding skills.”

Academically, players often have schoolwork due at the time practice starts. Some players added that it’s hard to keep up because they have other classes as well. Although academics can be hard, our players continue to push through both as students and athletes

Being a baseball player is so much more than just playing. It’s about the preparation, practice, and determination that others might not see. For the Varsity baseball team, the hard work never stops.
