The Pathways in Technology Early College High School (P-TECH) shall establish school structures and policies, regularly convene leadership teams, and ensure adequate staff capacity for the successful implementation and sustainability of the P-TECH program.

1.6 - Strategic Partnerships

​

Legacy the School of Sport Sciences maintains a strong and purposeful partnership with Lone Star College, which serves as the designated Institute of Higher Education (IHE) partner for the P-TECH program. This collaboration is central to the success of the P-TECH model and includes coordinated support in dual credit instruction, academic advising, degree planning, and student intervention.

The partnership is governed by a formal Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) that outlines the roles, responsibilities, and shared commitments of both institutions. Through this agreement, Legacy and Lone Star College have established:
 

  • Curricular alignment between high school and college-level coursework to ensure seamless credit transfer.

  • Shared use of facilities and instructional resources to support both in-person and online learning opportunities.

  • Joint academic advising to monitor student progress toward the Associate of Applied Science (AAS) in Business and Marketing.

  • Access to college faculty and support staff, including a dedicated Lone Star College representative, Mr. Freddie Johnson, who works on-site with students to provide tutoring and college navigation support.

  • Annual planning meetings and regular communication between Legacy administrators and Lone Star leadership to evaluate program effectiveness and coordinate continuous improvement.

 

This strategic partnership ensures that P-TECH students at Legacy are fully supported in their pursuit of both high school diplomas and postsecondary credentials. The collaboration aligns with the long-term workforce and college readiness goals outlined in the Texas P-TECH Blueprint.
 

IHE/P-TECH Leadership Meetings
 

Over the 2024–2025 academic year, Legacy and Lone Star held three leadership meetings:
 

  • August 15, 2024: Partnership kickoff, MOU review, and communication protocols.

  • January 10, 2025: Mid-year student performance review and spring planning.

  • April 25, 2025: Year-end data analysis and strategic planning for 2025–2026.
     

Strategic Priorities (from In-House Blueprint)

 

1. Academic Excellence and Career-Focused Training

  • Deliver rigorous academics and integrate Business/Marketing career training.

  • Use P-TECH-specific curriculum and soft skill development.

2. Work-Based Learning and Industry Engagement

  • Implement internships and job training at every grade level.

  • Partner with local businesses and industry mentors.

3. Access to Post-Secondary Education

  • Provide free dual credit courses and textbooks.

  • Ensure students earn credentials aligned with high-demand careers.

4. Student Recruitment and Support

  • Host a Summer Bridge Program with TSI prep.

  • Provide continuous tutoring, counseling, and mentoring.

5. Commitment to Equity and Access

  • Promote open-enrollment access and program diversity.

Legacy the School of Sport Sciences maintains a structured Mentor Induction Program to ensure that business, industry, and higher education partners are prepared to effectively support P-TECH students through academic, professional, and personal development.
