Hi, I’m Chrishad Wilson, a student at Legacy Sport Sciences. My days are full of academics, sports media and journalism, leadership, and personal passions, keeping me busy, motivated, and constantly learning. I want to share what a typical day looks like for me and how I balance.
Morning Routine
I usually wake up around 6:30 AM. Mornings are important to me because they set the tone for the whole day. I start by getting ready, having breakfast, and planning my schedule. I like to take a few minutes to think about my goals for the day, whether it’s completing schoolwork, working on reporting projects, or preparing for student council activities. A productive morning helps me stay focused, especially because my classes are challenging and require concentration.
School Schedule
Here’s what my school day looks like:
● 1st Period: AP English Language & Composition – I enjoy reading, analyzing texts, and improving my writing. This class is especially useful for my reporting and journalism projects, helping me tell stories clearly and effectively.
● 2nd Period: Algebra II – Math is my favorite subject because I enjoy solving problems and thinking critically. I like the feeling of accomplishment when I figure out a challenging problem.
● 3rd Period: U.S. History Honors – I learn how past events shaped today’s world and enjoy connecting historical events to current issues. Understanding history helps me see patterns in the world that I can include in my writing.
● 4th Period: AP Human Geography – Geography helps me understand population trends, culture, and global patterns, which is useful when reporting on school or community events.
● 5th Period: Environmental Systems Honors – Hands-on experiments and real-world science make this class exciting. I enjoy exploring how natural systems work and affect communities.
● 6th Period: Path College Career I – This class prepares me for college and career planning while giving me practical skills that I can apply to journalism and leadership.
● 7th Period: Spanish II () – Studying Spanish at my own pace helps me improve communication skills and prepares me to connect with people from different cultures in the future.
Lunch and Productivity
During lunch, I usually walk around campus to recharge. Sometimes I use this time to work on reporting and writing projects, such as planning stories, drafting articles, or editing videos. Lunch is a perfect balance between taking a break and continuing to be productive. It gives me a chance to clear my mind before tackling afternoon classes or after-school responsibilities.
Sports Media and Journalism
After school, I focus on sports media and journalism, which is one of my biggest passions. I write about school events, sports games, and other activities happening around campus. I also film games and events and edit the footage to create highlight videos. Sharing these stories keeps students informed, celebrates achievements, and allows me to practice storytelling, editing, and communication skills. Reporting on school life gives me the opportunity to capture the moments that matter and share them with the community.
Student Leadership
Leadership has taught me responsibility, organization, and teamwork. I hope to make school life better and ensure that every student’s voice is heard. Leadership also complements my journalism work because both require communication, planning, and creativity. But when it's 6th or 7th period, I occasionally go to the gym to volunteer as a coach to the middle school kids.
Evening Routine
In the evenings, I usually work on homework or for my classes. I continue reporting and writing projects and plan for student council activities. I also take time to reflect on the day, set goals for tomorrow, and think about how I can improve. Balancing work, self-reflection, and rest helps me stay productive and keeps me focused on my goals.
Balancing Academics, Passions, and Growth
Being a student at Legacy Sport Sciences means balancing academics, journalism, and leadership. I enjoy math, history, science, and languages while pursuing my passion for reporting and writing about school events. Each day teaches me something new, whether it’s a skill in journalism, a leadership lesson, or a moment of personal growth. I feel proud to contribute to my school community while developing skills that will help me in the future.
Final Thoughts
Every day at Legacy is busy, but I love it. Balancing academics, sports media, journalism, and student leadership keeps me challenged and motivated. My goal is to continue growing my journalism skills, serving as Student Council President, and preparing for a future in reporting and media, all while making a positive impact in my school community.
