After assignments, quizzes, finals, and STAAR, the 2024-2025 school year has come to an end. On May 22nd, students enjoyed a field day with friends, peers, and even the teachers who wanted in on the fun! Field day included Kona Ice, one water slide, a dunk tank, Slip ‘n Slide kickball, tug-of-war, and dodgeball.
Not only was it a day to remember, but it was also an educational activity for the class of ‘Human Growth & Development,’ led by Coach Ses. This course teaches students about efficient operation, funding, and sustainability in the sports environment.
Junior Lyric Nettles stated, “We thought about our logistics first, then we contacted our company for the mission. Later, we made the flyer and contacted the slide and dunk tank company.” She added, “I think if there were more activities, it would have been even more enjoyable, but it was cool!”
Eighth grader Hunter Rodgers said, “I enjoyed the field day. I mostly enjoyed the dunk tank. Since it was the last day of school, it sort of felt like a reward.”
Field Day served as a reward and celebration of hard work! Students worked together as a united front to create something for all to enjoy, while also learning how it can help them in the real world. While it may be summer now, students stay hyped for sports and extracurriculars and continue to practice for the upcoming school year.
